Drury (Reverse Drury, Two-Way Drury, and Romex Reverse Drury) ----- After a 3rd or 4th seat major opening, a 2C or 2D response is used to show a limit raise (10-11) and asks partner if their opening was sound or light. Drury response of 2C asks. Opener responds: ----- -2D light opening -other sound opening and natural rebids Over a 2D rebid, responder rebids the major to signoff. After 1S-2C; 2D- responder can rebid 2H to checkback for a better 4-4 heart fit. Reverse Drury response of 2C asks. Opener responds: ------------- -2D sound opening -2Maj light opening -2H light opening, but also has 4+ hearts (could be 4-4 in the majors) Here the opponents cannot cheaply get in a double of 2D to ask for the lead of diamonds. The opener and responder get in and out of the auction as fast as possible when opener has opened light-- a very nice feature of Reverse Drury. Two-Way Drury ------------- A response of 2C to a third or fourth seat opening shows 3 card support and 10-11. A response of 2D shows 4 or more card support and 10-11. Over 2C you would use whichever Drury you prefer. Over 2D, opener rebids -2Maj light opening -2H light opening, but also has 4+ hearts -other sound opening Reverse Romex Drury ------------------- This is an extended version of Reverse Drury. After a 2C response opener rebids: -2D sound opening and either inviting game or mildly slammish -2Maj light opening -2H light opening, and has 4+ hearts -4Maj game values, but no slam aspirations -2NT balanced 17-18 -new suit at three level, or 2S after opening 1H natural, slam try and _guarantees_ a singleton somewhere -new suit at the four level or 3S after opening 1H slam try with a void in the suit bid -3Maj Trump Asking Bid, slam try -3NT DEMANDS a cue bid from responder (opener usually has a void)
